Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning implements your Mission. It aligns all important stakeholders in designing an organization that will flourish five years and beyond.

OUR APPROACH

We work with a small planning team, modifying the following template steps to best suit your unique environment. We ensure that the client makes all decisions. We facilitate the meetings so that client personnel can fully participate.

Initial design

Initial design – whom to include? Do NOT limit this to your senior leaders. Instead, include representatives from important external stakeholders (key customers, key suppliers, etc.), plus key employees from various levels in the organization (e.g. informal leaders, visionaries), This large group can be 15 people or more.

SECTION-BANNER

Initial Large Group Meeting

1.Visualize the Environmentin which you will be operating five years in the future. What will your world look like?
  • Competition
  • Technology
  • Economy
  • Labor trends
  • Regulations
  • Etc.
2.Design a “Dream” Organization –Design the ultimate organization in your industry five years in the future. That’s what/who you want to become.
  • The best customers seek you out
  • The best potential employees seek you out
  • Thought leaders hold you up as an example of how the best organizations operate
3.Perform SWOTanalysis – this is your baseline.

Senior Leadership Alignment

1. Convene your senior leaders. This will probably require more than one meeting.
  1. Optional – perform a force-field analysis
  2. Based on the large group meeting, decide on 3-4 major strategic objectives to make the 5-year dream happen.
  3. Drill into each objective; create SMART goals. The first meeting will probably just get started on these. Subsequent meetings add more detail.
2. Update progress on your strategic plan at each board meeting. This is your future! (Otherwise, your strategic plan will sit on the shelf, unexecuted.)
